THe Value of Engaging
“You deserve to be here, but you’re entitled to nothing.”Nick Saban, Alabama Football Coach
This has been called the generation of entitlement. Thanks to helicopter parents who hover over their children while handling their “issues,” every child is awarded a trophy so that they don’t have to suffer the agony of experiencing defeat. It has produced a generation that believes that just sitting in class and passing the tests entitles them to success after graduation. Add to this the immediate ability to connect via social media and the Internet with anyone at anytime anywhere in the world and we see that people have become isolated and are focused on self-interests. There is certainly nothing wrong with this until self-interest becomes self-absorption and extends to disinterested non-involvement. In the short term the price seems small, but projected into the future, the price is unbearable. When I got to Life U, she was in trouble, ready to close her doors. But some serious people saw the future without Life U.
IF THEY GOT ENGAGED, THEY COULD REESTABLISH THE COLLEGE AS A VIABLE FORCE OF LEADERSHIP IN CHIROPRACTIC.
IF THEY BECAME APATHETIC, THEN THE COLLEGE WOULD BECOME A MERE FOOTNOTE IN HISTORY.
Without INVOLVEMENT AND PRINCIPLES there would undoubtedly be drugs in our profession today, some other like minded colleges would be closed, there would be little philosophical/political action in Europe, and a host of initiatives – from bringing chiropractic education to China to programs designed to end the cycle of recidivism in our prison system – would not exist.
Let’s make some s#*t happen, together. After all, there are less than 100,000 of us in the world. We can’t afford to be complacent and still be viable and successful.
Commit to principled engagement and action today. Go to TCLonline.today to find out how.
Proud to be a ChiropracTOR and President of Life U,
