The Chiropractic Academy
Bringing TIC to Germany

Friso Krüger

This is a crucial time for chiropractic as it continues to expand globally into areas, like Europe, where its art has sometimes been adopted without its philosophy. This disconnect has led to some national associations of chiropractors to reject the very essence of chiropractic’s focus on the innate capacity of the body to heal itself in the absence of neurological interference as a result of manually correctable vertebral misalignment of the spine.

TCL is pleased to honor Friso Krüger, principle at Chiropractic Family Practice for nearly eleven years, president of the Association of German Chiropractors e.V., who also serves as technical manager of the Chiropractic Academy in the beautiful spa town, Bad Oeynhausen, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Because of his work, there another solid footing from which to advance ‘TIC in Europe.

(NOTE: Given the language barrier, the following conversation was compiled both from Krüger’s responses as well as from the website the Chiropractic Academy, with thanks to Google Translate.)

TCL: For which professional achievements will you most want to be acknowledged?

Krüger/Academy: Being part of a duo that established Vitalistic chiropractic in Germany. In December 2009, the Chiropractic Academy emerged from the Berlin Chiropractic School and was founded with the intention of giving chiropractic in Germany the importance it deserves. As the health profession showing the strongest growth and representing the most important alternative to conventional medicine, chiropractic truly deserves a greater presence. The aim of the Chiropractic Academy is the training of principled chiropractors. The curriculum of Chiropractic Academy includes the WHO guidelines for the training of and for chiropractors.

Unique in Germany, the Chiropractic Academy brings together top faculty who have learned in the United States and the leading practices in Germany to offer in-depth original knowledge. At the Academy, we offer firsthand the scholarly original US techniques, bringing forward sixteen years of experience gained from our beginning at the “Berlin Chiropractic School.” Here, the chiropractic technique is not the only thing we convey; chiropractic science and philosophy, following the principles B.J. and D. D. Palmers, are at the forefront of our programs. Thus, the Academy is one of the few educational institutions in the world that aims to preserve the principles and tradition of Chiropractic.

TCL: What projects are you working on now (or have worked on recently) that you are most excited about and would like more people to know about?

Krüger/Academy: Our full-time Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science programs in Chiropractic. We tell our students, “Discover your potential! Chiropractic provides you with a concept that is both systematic and structured, as well as solution-oriented and holistic methods…Using only your hands, you will be able to help people and to activate their self-healing powers.”

TCL readers who are also part of spreading TIC around the world will no doubt be assured by these statements that appear in the Chiropractic Academy’s information, translated from its website:

  • Chiropractic is the art, science and philosophy designed to eliminate the cause of suffering and to help people to develop their highest possible potential.
  • Chiropractic is autonomous. Chiropractic is independent.
  • It is not an alternative medicine but a real, viable alternative to medicine.
  • The recipe for success is a good blend of art, science and philosophy because this makes a successful chiropractor.
